About

I’m a freelance journalist and book critic in New York. I’m writing a book about social media and digital culture that Harper will publish in 2014. My work has appeared in the New York Times, Slate, the Los Angeles Times, Bookforum, The New Republic, The Daily Beast, and many other publications. I’m also a contributing editor for the Virginia Quarterly Review and a columnist for Jewcy. In April 2012, I was a three-day Jeopardy! champion, which means my life is likely downhill from there.
If you want to contact me, try jacobsilverman [at] gmail [dot] com. I’m glad to receive books for possible review, but please note that I can’t always respond to such emails.
For book projects and other matters, I’m represented by Lauren Smythe of Inkwell Management.
